Hempstead Basketball 24-3A All-District Accolades 2021


HEMPSTEAD — After helping his team get back to the postseason in 2020-21, Hempstead High School senior guard Ken’Daylon Wilson was named District 24-3A Offensive Player of the Year. Wilson led the Bobcats with 16.7 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 5.1 steals. Freshman Floyd Ragston, wing, capped off his rookie season by earning the district’s Newcomer of the Year award. Ragston averaged 8.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Senior Cameron Parrish took home 2nd Team All-District honors after averaging 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Seniors Alexis Rodriguez and David Elizondo earned Academic All-District accolades.

Hempstead finished the year 16-9 overall and tied for third place in league action at 9- 5. The Bobcats dropped their first round state playoff game to New Waverly in February. Head coach Bobby Spain also notched his 400th win with a 56-54 win at Dime Box in December.

On the girls’ side, Ladycat senior guard D’Ny’Jzshia Wilson picked up District 24-3A Offensive Player of the Year honors. Wilson poured in 18.4 points per contest. Wilson also earned Academic All-District along with teammates sophomores Marlana Bryant Giana Rogel, and freshmen Jaiden Deese and Haley Herbert.
