After winning the District Championship and second place at Regionals, Waller High School’s (WHS) Academic UIL Team has once again achieved #WISDgreatness at the 2021 5A State UIL Meet. WHS sent 15 students to State, who competed against participants from 270 other schools. In the end, four teams and four individuals won awards, totaling 20 medals with each student receiving at least one award.
“Twenty-one years ago, (former superintendents) Mr. McReavy and Mr. Twardowski challenged us to build the best UIL Academic program in the State,” WHS UIL Coordinator Scotty Johnson said. “The kids have been absolutely amazing and we have done so well. For the last three years, we have reached a level that is quite extraordinary. Our kids have worked so hard to get us to this place.”
