Waller HS JROTC Named Drill National Champions

Waller High School (WHS) Air Force JROTC received several awards at the U.S. Air Force JROTC Open Drill Nationals in Dayton, Ohio. WHS drill teams consist of the girls’ Unarmed Phantoms team and the boys’ Armed Warhawks team. The Phantoms garnered the highest overall score of 3898, winning them the title of 2022 USAF National Champions. Phantoms Commander, Cadet First Lieutenant Havannah Sierra was awarded second place Top Flight Commander. The teams also participated in dual exhibition competitions where two students perform a routine together. Warhawk members Samuel Okabayashi and Tyler Spreckels were named Dual Exhibition National Champions, beating second place with over 50 points, and Phantom members Mahaila Lilly and Monserrat Mosqueda received second place. The WHS AFJROTC program is led by Master Sergeant Joel Barnett and Lieutenant Colonel Byrl Engel. Congratulations to the WHS Phantoms and Warhawk Drill Teams!
